Our Co-Founders
Mark Higgins and Kirat Singh built Beacon to apply the lessons they learned from almost 20 years of building trading and risk platforms at investment banks. Mark and Kirat have a goal to create an ecosystem that enables collaboration and innovation across business lines and breaks down silos. They saw the opportunity to help companies of all sizes unlock the potential of modern technology.

1992: Goldman Sachs launches SecDB
1992: Goldman Sachs launches SecDB
The first institutional quant platform, known as Securities Database or SecDB, is developed and becomes the backbone of Goldman Sachs trading and risk management.
1997: Kirat and Mark join Goldman Sachs
1997: Kirat and Mark join Goldman Sachs
Kirat Singh starts his career at Goldman Sachs, as a core developer of SecDB. Mark Higgins joins Goldman Sachs as a Strategist building functionality in SecDB.
2006: Mark and Kirat join JPMorgan
2006: Mark and Kirat join JPMorgan
Kirat and Mark move to JPMorgan to start Athena, its cross-asset market risk, trading and quant platform. Athena uses a rapid development and deployment model to put developers at the core of the business.
2010: Kirat joins Bank of America
2010: Kirat joins Bank of America
Kirat begins at Bank of America as Managing Director and Head of Global Risk Systems, building the Quartz integrated trading, position management, pricing, risk management, and trading platform.
2014: Mark and Kirat start Beacon based on their collective experience
